about me

I first became interested in photography when I was about ten years old. I saved up my money to buy a little 110 instant camera. (Remember those?) I’ve been upgrading cameras ever since.

I took some photography classes in high school. I was a photographer for the high school yearbook. In college I worked for the school’s Public Relations office, I was editor of a newsletter, the year book editor and I photographed school events all year long. After graduating, I continued to work in public relations and marketing. I taught myself HTML. In the late 1990s my husband gave me a digital camera and I created a personal web site to share my photos. (My poor Canon Rebel SLR got shelved.) Professionally I was also getting more and more involved with design.

In 2003 my life took a major shift in focus and we welcomed a baby boy into our lives. I started taking pictures of my son every single day. I didn’t want to miss anything – a single outfit, a single milestone. I started clicking with a brand new intensity. The entire first year of his life, I took photos of him every day but one. I didn’t mean to, it just happened. The trend continued. We had more children, my husband bought me larger hard drives. In 2005, when I found out I was pregnant with my third child, I stopped my working at my part-time job so I could fully devote myself to the full-time job of tending to my family. And meanwhile I was taking lots and lots of photos. Shortly after our fourth child was born, my husband finally acquiesced to my pleading and bought me a digital SLR. I was thrilled to once again have full control over my camera.

Somehow I discovered "Project 365" and realized I'd already been doing that for years.

These days, I don’t necessarily take photographs every single day but my camera is never far away. My husband is still having to upgrade my hard drives on a regular basis. My favorite subjects are my husband and our four beautiful children. As they can all attest, I’m passionate about documenting the everyday moments and important relationships in my life.

I started blogging in 2004. I wanted a place to document all the adventures in parenting, the things that made me laugh, the precious moments i never want to forget, and all the things that matter to me.
